Module 2.1: TINs and DEMs

TINs are a wonderful elevation model to use. They contain elevation, slope, and aspect data all in a single model, unlike a raster DEM. This simplifies the process of displaying these various data immensely, the symbology simply needs to be altered for the preferred data. Another advantage of TINs is that they do an excellent job of preserving well-defined features of the landscape. This can be seen in the above screenshot, wherein the complex shoreline of the lake has been preserved.
