Module 2: Land Use Land Cover (LULC) Classification, Ground Truthing, & Accuracy Assessment

This week's lab required us to create a level II Land Use Land Cover (LULC) map for the city of Pascagoula, Mississippi. This was accomplished by creating and digitizing a polygon feature class and assigning each polygon a classification code based upon the remotely sensed image provided. Once the LULC map was fully digitized and classified, google maps was employed in place of in situ ground truthing. The above map depicts the LULC classifications, in addition to, the locations and results of the ground truthing sample points. While immensely time consuming, this lab was quite fascinating and I would enjoy working on similar projects in the future.
